Risk Management and Monitoring Network Meeting 2025 Overview

We will be exploring the latest challenges and opportunities in some of the following areas: how we safeguard potential COstorage sites for future use; managing and evaluating pressure plume risk; thresholds of leak detection in legacy wells; well design and operation; faults – how risky are they?; understanding what might reduce risk through time in a project; novel monitoring solutions; and a session on insurance for CO2 storage projects.

Wednesday 27th August 2025

Thursday 28th August 2025

Friday 29th August 2025              

  • Excursion (optional). Half day visiting Rotterdam Harbour with boat tour (TBC)

Technical Sessions

The technical sessions will run broadly as follows (subject to change)

  • Session 1: Safeguarding future storage needs – risks and opportunities
  • Session 2: Faults – how risky are they?
  • Session 3: Legacy well risk – thresholds of detections, what is material?
  • Session 4: Well designs and operations 
  • Session 5: Novel monitoring solutions
  • Session 6: Risk profile through time – positive risk reduction factors 
  • Session 7: Pressure Plume risk
  • Session 8: The role of insurance & finance – Discussion Panel
  • Closing discussion

Registration

The delegate rate will be £250 for the 2-day meeting and will include all refreshments and workshop dinner. The optional excursion will cost £50.

If you would like to present a poster please send an abstract to Nicola.clarke@ieaghg.org by Friday 20th June.

Registrations for the Risk Management and Monitoring Network Meeting will close on Friday 15th August, but early registration is advised.

Note: the delegate fee is non-refundable but can be transferred to another person up to a week before the meeting.

Excursion

Details to be finalised, we will take a coach party to the new Portlantis attraction at the Port of Rotterdam where the Porthos pipeline is being constructed. From there we will join a boat tour of the harbour.
