Excursion

Delegates of the meeting will have the opportunity to go on an excursion on Friday 30th June.

We will start the day with a guided walking tour of Edinburgh’s iconic Arthurs Seat in Holyrood park. A coach will take delegates from Heriot Watt to the very heart of the city and the base of the long extinct volcano which boasts unrivalled views of the city and surrounding Pentland Hills and the Firth of Forth. We will spend two hours with an expert guide who will take us on a tour back in time to talk about the origins of the urban mountain, how the landscape was formed, the human history and the wildlife habitats of today.

You will then have the opportunity to explore Edinburgh and enjoy one of the many wonderful eateries available for lunch before reconvening to embark on a Whisky and Gin Tour at the Holyrood Distillery.  Established in 2019- - this new kid on the block is not bound by tradition – making whisky and gin using innovative new methods and ideas. On this tour you will get a hands on look at both the gin and whisky production areas, with drinks and sampling throughout.

Our coach will then return us to the Heriot Watt campus, with a drop off to the airport available on request. Please note there is a maximum of 50 spaces on the excursion.
