Overview
The 10th High Temperature Solid Looping Cycles Network (HTSLCN) Meeting took place on the 17th and 18th of March 2026 at Kulturen Hus in Luleå, Sweden, in partnership with the Horizon Europe Framework Programme funded CaLby2030 project and hosted by Swerim. 32 attendees enjoyed a two-day programme, with a total of 27 presentations, the official inauguration of the new Circulating Fluidized Bed – Calcium Looping (CFB-CaL) pilot plant, and a traditional Sámi dinner in a wooden hut built to resemble a Lappish tent on the banks of a frozen Lake Stora Antnäs.
Concluding from the technical sessions and panel discussion, it is evident that high-temperature solid looping cycles carbon capture technologies have moved from primarily targeting the power sector to harder to abate sectors, such as cement, steelmaking, hydrogen production, as well as negative emission technologies like bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) and direct air capture (DAC).
